The characters are ALL intriguing and the story is excellent. A man with a seemingly horrible life, yet he loves it. I think that was the best aspect of it al, a life with no stability, family or love yet, he identifies himself with it and doesn't want to lose it. Absolutely smashing! For those who said its slow, you were wrong, you shouldn't drink red cordial before going to see a good drama, it make one too impatient and time lag on. Was this review helpful? This is the one time where I should of read the reviews before going. Did not matter I guess, since I promised to take someone to see it.
The acting was good 4 stars. I hate every minute of anything related to traveling.
I cannot fathom any person who enjoys that lifestyle.
Then the cheating wife part totally train wrecked it.
I should of seen that one comming.
It's my trusting nature. I want to say this...Most people are trusting! The only thing this movie had going for it, for me was that relationship.
This movie infestation could fester on you and could weaken your realationship.

I'm completely puzzled how this film was nominated for Best Picture. George Clooney is one of my favorite actors. He couldn't make this role interesting. Who would want to fly across the country firing people for a living? One would have to be completely detached from humankind to enjoy doing that every day. They actually made a film about it, and said it was funny and should get rewarded. Wow, how sick is that. Was this review helpful? I simply could not justify wasting my time. Its attempts at cute sexualized travel humor were pathetic. Didn't see too much about the movie so I didn't know what to expect. Up in the Air was very well written. It had a clever script with many twists and turns in the plot that we unexpected. The casting was amazing as well. Clooney gives a great performance as usual. Anna Kendrick's performance was outstanding. She performed much better than expected based upon her previous roles. It was well written and superbly acted. It gets my top rating because the plot development surprised me more than once. Those looking for a light comedy will be disappointed, since this is a story about character development in a complex world, by people who want to keep simple. For those who complain that it is in poor taste to "make fun" of unemployment in these dark times, I do not know what movie you watched. Tears flowed aplenty. For those looking for a neatly concocted resolution to all the tensions, look instead for redemption or at least the hope for it, which says plenty in the face of these difficult times. Not even close. A very dark movie that left me trying to explain to my wife that it's not like that. Worth a DVD rental because George Clooney does a nice job. Save your money and wait til then.
