GWTDT is a fun and suspenseful mystery that offers colorful characters throughout the film. The main protagonists’' are as likable as they are different. The bad guys are REALLY bad, and not is all as it seems. Loved the ending too. To often I see foreign films (or American) that have the down beat, obscure and frustrating ending (No Country for Old Men) that leaves a bad aftertaste. This film is satisfying in every way even the subtitles are bearable! PLEASE see this if your any kind of film coinsurer. This is why I LOVE the movies! Was this review helpful? I waited patiently for the film. Finally saw it had arrived in San Diego. Yes, it was subtitled because I don't speak Swedish, but after a few minutes I didn't need the text, I knew the story and lived it. Lizbeth is outstanding and just as I expected. Mikael ditto.
As all books to movies do this one left out a few sub-plots but the movie was mesmerizing, scary, thrilling and just plain worth my money...
I remember reading The Godfather and then seeing the movie--awesome. I remember Silence of the Lamb doing the same. This has that feel. The second book to movie "Girl Who Played w/Fire is due in July. I can relive the intensity of this one until then but Wow what a film... Was this review helpful? It took you all over the place and keep you guessing until the last second. I have not seen anything like this in a very ;long time. As the first reviewer said much like the book, but there are some cinnematic changes and licenses that were taken on production. The acting was stupendous and the subtitles were adequate.
The torcher and twists in plot were intreguing. The discovery of "who dun it" only played out at the end and the built-up of suspence was drenching!
