I think the actors were believable, the story line was great and I found myself involved in the movie. I think now I may even respect the police officers as having a life and being real people, and not just seeing them as men and or women with a badge. Ethan Hawk's character was a real man with real issue trying to provide for his family. And Don Cheadle... well I love him anyway. I even think Richard Gere pulled his character off. I was a little surprised, I did not think he could have pulled it off. It is a GO SEE!. Was this review helpful? I found the characters extremely believable, and will recommend it to everyone I know (Adult Viewers). This film was well written, and the actors chosen for the parts were perfect. In my opinion, "Brooklyn's Finest" was an excellent portrayal of good intentions gone bad. The police deal with so many extreme situations on a daily basis. We want them to help us when needed, and leave us alone the rest of the time. They are so valuable, yet underpaid, as well as, underappreciated. It's similar to Pastors, Military staff, Teachers, Fire Fighters, Case Workers, Ect... Our Society tends to put Athletes on a pedistal, and criticise the ones they should be thanking God for. It's so pathetic! Don't get me wrong. I respect people with God given talents, however, we should not only appreciate and respect those who put their lives on the line, take care of our children, encourage us to be who the Lord created us to be ECT.... We need to pay them like we appreciate their services. A man (or Woman) is worth their wages. It would also be nice if we encouraged them, and provided them with counsel when needed to be able to deal with the extreme situations they deal with, and the horrible emotional trauma they accept because of their desire to "Do the right thing". Back to the movie... Sometimes we can get off track after awhile even though intentions started off pure and right. This movie showed exactly how that can (and does) happen. Overall, I give this movie a high rating. The only negative comments I have concern certain language usage. I understand that in that line of work the language may be colorful to be realistic, however it's not necessary to use the Lord's name in vain. It is breaking one of the ten Commandments. Thou shall not use the Lord's name in vain. The only other issue I had was the nudity. I personally didn't feel that it was needed to prove any point. Maybe the characters could have dressed like the people they... Was this review helpful? If you submit feedback on this review in the future, we will overwrite your previous feedback. Sign in 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 3/7/2010A review of Brooklyn's Finest by VPayne1984 I am a woman and I love action movie. So I'm letting everyone know how disappointed I was. The first 10 minutes into the movie I already understood everyones history and problems. So since the writter kept on explaining their drama, I went to sleep. There were alot of areas in the movie that the director & writter left me hanging, not cool. The biggest problem for me was that, there wasn't enough ACTION thoughout the move just at the end when the 3 cops all ended up at the same address. With a strong cast of stars I was exspecting more. New Jack City was much better! Was this review helpful? If you submit feedback on this review in the future, we will overwrite your previous feedback. The entire theater was on the edge of their seat without a blink. that's a good sign for a movie especially when it is 2 hours plus. the first user view was dead on so i won't repeat it but the second user must have blinked or just don't understand "character play" for movies. that second user review raises questions like why not "birth control" when the characters personality was strongly religious (thats why not birth control). i won't mention more about that review because i guess u get the picture. Sign in 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 3/6/2010A review of Brooklyn's Finest by Goseeit10 Once again the critics prove me right. This Kathleen Murphy who critiqued this film for MSN Movies must have a personal thing against Antoine Fuqua. This movie was very similar to Scorsese's "The Departed" . I only see movies that critics rate as poor and it always turns out to be very good cinema. Brooklyn's Finest was a very good film that is worth the $9.50 ticket. Coming from a LEO...this movie is not a far-fetched anti-cop movie, instead it shows the incredible pyschological toll that police face every day as they struggle with moral convictions while trying to mentally cope with society's garbage. This film was gripping, real, and entertaining. Another gritty police drama that shows a side of human nature that people usually don't want to see. Two thumbs up for Brooklyn's Finest! the grueling job of policing Brooklyn is horrid.
Towards the end of the film it is a mystery to me why the cops didn't call for back up in the final crucial scene.
Ethan Hawke has apparantly never heard of birth control with 5 kids and twins on the way.....C'mon.
Gere who is gorgeous to watch is in love with a hooker.....C'mon.....
you must be joking!
Don Cheadle who is a fine actor plays a undercover cop and does it well....
Wesley Snipes has a small role but powerful
The movie is uber violent and bloody and stressful.
if you like gritty down & dirty cop drama.
you'll love it. Was this review helpful? If you submit feedback on this review in the future, we will overwrite your previous feedback. Sign in | ||
